A Little Bit About Me.

We All Start Somewhere.

Healing is a Journey, Not a Destination

Healing doesn't follow a neat timeline or checklist. It unfolds in spirals—sometimes revisiting familiar territory but with new awareness. Some days you'll feel the momentum of transformation; other days you'll wonder if you've made any progress at all. Both are part of the path. The invitation isn't to 'get it right' but to show up with compassion for wherever you are today.

Vulnerability is Strength

We live in a culture that often confuses vulnerability with weakness. But true vulnerability—the willingness to be seen in our authentic humanity—requires tremendous courage. When we allow ourselves to drop the armor of perfectionism and share our genuine experiences, we create space for real connection. Our shared vulnerability becomes the bridge that connects us across our differences.

Our Wounds Can Lead to Wisdom

Our culture tells us to hide our scars, to pretend we haven't been broken open by life. But what if our wounds are actually portals to our deepest wisdom? What if the very experiences that have caused us the most pain can, when metabolized with compassion, become the source of our most meaningful contributions? This isn't about toxic positivity or denying suffering—it's about integrating our full human experience into a more complete story of who we are.

About The Wounded Healer

Hi, I’m Maria. If you’re reading this, chances are you’re on a journey—perhaps one that feels confusing, painful, or just plain hard. Maybe you feel stuck, repeating patterns you can’t seem to break, or navigating the complex aftermath of relationships that left scars. I see you. And I want you to know, you’re not alone.

My own path has been anything but straightforward. It’s been a winding road marked by trauma, resilience, and ultimately, transformation. My story includes navigating various forms of abuse from childhood into adulthood, leaving home young, and striving for outward success while wrestling internally with toxic relationships, unhealthy beliefs, and coping mechanisms that weren’t truly serving me. For years, I felt disconnected, like I was living someone else’s life, constantly seeking external validation while feeling empty inside.

My education is in social work and business—a combination that reflects my deep interest in both human connection and building meaningful lives. For over 12 years, I dedicated myself to helping entrepreneurs bring their visions to life. It was fulfilling work, but over time, I realized something profound: the biggest hurdles weren’t business strategies or market challenges. They were the invisible wounds, the trauma, the limiting beliefs, and the deep-seated blocks my clients carried from their pasts. My most impactful work became helping them navigate that terrain, the inner landscape where true transformation happens.

Through my own deep dive into shadow work, somatic healing, and spiritual exploration, I began to understand the profound connection between our past experiences, our bodies, and our ability to live fully. As I started to heal and reclaim my own story, I experienced a powerful awakening. I knew I couldn’t go back to just coaching business strategy; I had a deeper calling to guide others through the messy, courageous work of healing the wounds that hold them back from living wholeheartedly.

That calling became The Wounded Healer.

Professionally, I bring my training as a Reiki healer, a trauma-informed Somatic Practitioner, and a spiritual mentor. My approach centers on somatic healing because I believe our bodies hold immense wisdom and the keys to releasing stored trauma. We explore how past experiences manifest physically and emotionally, gently facilitate the release of pent-up energy, help you reconnect with your body’s intelligence, and address the generational patterns that often keep us stuck.

But perhaps more importantly than any credential, I bring my lived experience—the understanding that comes from having walked through the fire myself.

You Are the Warrior

I want to be clear: You are not broken. You are not a victim defined solely by your past. You are a fierce warrior in your own epic tale, capable of profound healing and transformation.

My role isn’t to “fix” you—because you’re not broken. It’s to walk alongside you, to hold a brave and compassionate space, and to offer tools, guidance, and reflections as you navigate your unique path. I’m here as a fellow traveler, committed to helping you reclaim your power, rewrite your story, and connect with the inherent worth that has always been within you.

Transforming pain into purpose, wounds into wisdom—it’s not easy work, but it is perhaps the most important work we can do. If you feel called to begin, or to deepen, your journey, I would be honoured to walk alongside you.

With warmth,
Maria

The Truth Behind My Smile:

A Journey from Performing to Being.

There's a particular kind of loneliness that comes with having a story no one can see. I know this intimately.

From the outside, my life told one story: resilient young woman overcomes difficult childhood, travels the world, builds a successful life. Check, check, check. But inside? I was exhausted from the performance.

The truth was messier. The abuse I experienced—mental, sexual, physical, emotional, neglect, family violence—didn't stay neatly in my childhood. It shaped how I showed up in every relationship, how I related to money, how I valued (or didn't value) myself. At 15, when I left home with nothing but desperate hope, I wasn't just leaving a place. I was trying to outrun a story I didn't know how to rewrite.

For years, I excelled at looking like I had it all together. Meanwhile, I cycled through toxic relationships, drawn to partners who confirmed my deepest fears about my worthiness. I dimmed my light to make others comfortable. I prioritized everyone's needs above my own. I built financial success only to sabotage it, because somewhere deep down, I didn't believe I deserved stability. These weren't character flaws. They were adaptations—the ways I'd learned to survive. The problem wasn't that I was doing it wrong; the problem was that these strategies that once protected me were now keeping me from the connection and authenticity I deeply craved.

The turning point wasn't glamorous. It was a Tuesday morning when I looked in the mirror and didn't recognize the woman staring back. The life I'd carefully constructed felt like a beautiful cage. That moment of painful clarity became my invitation to a different way of being.

Through shadow work and somatic healing, I began the courageous work of meeting all the parts of myself I'd abandoned—my anger, my grief, my needs, my power. I learned that healing isn't about erasing our wounds; it's about integrating them into a more complete story of who we are.

Here's what I know now that I wish someone had told me years ago: Your painful experiences aren't evidence of your unworthiness. They're the very places where your greatest gifts are waiting to be claimed.

This journey through my own darkness revealed my purpose: to create the sanctuary I once desperately needed—a place where women can bring their whole selves, messy parts and all, and discover that they've always been enough.

I’m Maria, a proud mom to three incredible kids—two adventurous boys and one spirited little princess. My oldest is 20, my middle son is 13 (who has a knack for turning any situation into a comedic routine), and my delightful daughter is just 3. With such an age gap, it often feels like I’m refereeing a chaotic sports game! One moment, I’m discussing career goals with my eldest, and the next, I’m dodging toy projectiles from my toddler. And let me tell you, my 13-year-old has perfected the art of sarcastic commentary, critiquing my parenting skills as if he’s hosting his own reality show. It’s a wild ride that keeps me on my toes and my sense of humour in high gear!

As a Reiki healer, trauma-informed Somatic Practitioner, and spiritual mentor, I bring both professional training and lived experience to our work together. I understand trauma not just as a concept, but as a lived reality that affects how we inhabit our bodies, form relationships, and move through the world.

In our work together, we honour the wisdom of your body. Trauma isn't just stored in your memories—it lives in your nervous system, your patterns of tension, your reflexive responses to perceived threats. By gently bringing awareness to these physical manifestations, we create space for release and integration.
We'll explore how your past experiences shape your present reactions, not to dwell there, but to bring compassionate understanding to the ways you've adapted to survive. These adaptations made perfect sense in the context of your experiences.

Now, we can expand your options, helping you respond from choice rather than conditioning.
We also address the generational patterns that may be playing out in your life. Many of us carry not only our own wounds but those passed down through our lineage. By recognizing these inherited patterns, we can consciously choose which legacies to carry forward and which to transform, creating new possibilities not just for ourselves but for those who come after us.

You are not what happened to you. You are what you choose to do with what happened to you. And that choice—that profound, daily choice to reclaim your story—is the most courageous work you'll ever do.
