Trauma Healing Mentor.

Cycle Breaker.

We All Start Somewhere. I Help Women Heal Trauma, Reclaim Power, and Break Toxic Cycles.

Healing is a Journey, Not a Destination

Healing doesn't follow a neat timeline or checklist. It unfolds in spirals—sometimes revisiting familiar territory but with new awareness. Some days you'll feel the momentum of transformation; other days you'll wonder if you've made any progress at all. Both are part of the path. The invitation isn't to 'get it right' but to show up with compassion for wherever you are today.

Vulnerability is Strength

We live in a culture that often confuses vulnerability with weakness. But true vulnerability—the willingness to be seen in our authentic humanity—requires tremendous courage. When we allow ourselves to drop the armor of perfectionism and share our genuine experiences, we create space for real connection. Our shared vulnerability becomes the bridge that connects us across our differences.

Our Wounds Can Lead to Wisdom

Our culture tells us to hide our scars, to pretend we haven't been broken open by life. But what if our wounds are actually portals to our deepest wisdom? What if the very experiences that have caused us the most pain can, when metabolized with compassion, become the source of our most meaningful contributions? This isn't about toxic positivity or denying suffering—it's about integrating our full human experience into a more complete story of who we are.

About The Wounded Healer

I’m Maria, founder of The Wounded Healer.

For years, I carried childhood trauma that showed up everywhere: in toxic relationships, codependency, people-pleasing, and the relentless pressure to perform. I looked strong on the outside, but inside I was unraveling.

I’ve lived through abuse, neglect, and generational patterns that felt impossible to escape. And like many women, I dimmed my light just to keep the peace.

What saved me wasn’t denial — it was turning toward the shadows. Through somatic healing, shadow work, and spiritual mentorship, I began reclaiming the pieces of myself I had buried to survive.

That’s how The Wounded Healer was born — from my longing for a sanctuary I couldn’t find, and my promise to create one for women like us.

The Truth Behind My Smile:

A Journey from Performing to Being.

There’s a particular kind of loneliness that comes with carrying a story no one can see. I know this intimately.

From the outside, my life looked like resilience: a young woman who overcame a hard childhood, traveled the world, and built success. Inside, I was exhausted from the performance.

The truth was messier. I survived layers of abuse — mental, emotional, physical, sexual, neglect, and family violence. It shaped my relationships, my money, and my sense of worth. At 15, I left home with nothing but desperate hope — not just escaping a place, but trying to outrun a story I didn’t yet know how to rewrite.

For years, I looked like I had it all together — but inside I was stuck in toxic relationships, dimming my light, and sabotaging my own stability. These weren’t flaws. They were adaptations — survival strategies that once protected me, but eventually kept me caged.

My turning point wasn’t glamorous. Just a Tuesday morning, staring in the mirror at a woman I didn’t recognize. The life I had carefully built felt like a beautiful cage. That painful clarity became my invitation to live differently.

Through shadow work and somatic healing, I began reclaiming the parts of myself I’d abandoned — anger, grief, needs, power. Healing didn’t erase my wounds; it integrated them into a more complete story of who I am.

Here’s what I wish someone had told me sooner: your painful experiences aren’t evidence of unworthiness. They are the very places where your greatest gifts are waiting to be claimed.

This journey through my own darkness revealed my purpose: to create the sanctuary I once needed — a space where women can bring their whole selves, messy and magnificent, and discover they’ve always been enough.

life beyond the work

I’m also mom to three incredible kids — a grown adult son, a sarcastic teen, and a spirited toddler who keeps me on my toes. Parenting across such different stages is chaos, comedy, and the deepest love all rolled into one. My family keeps me grounded, human, and laughing, even in the hardest seasons.

As a Reiki healer, trauma-informed Somatic Practitioner, and spiritual mentor, I bring both professional training and lived experience to our work together. I understand trauma not just as a concept, but as a lived reality that affects how we inhabit our bodies, form relationships, and move through the world.

You are not what happened to you. You are what you choose to do with what happened to you. And that choice—that profound, daily choice to reclaim your story—is the most courageous work you'll ever do.

What is Maria's Approach

I don’t believe in quick fixes. I believe in sacred, practical, embodied work that honours both your vulnerability and your resilience.

My approach blends:

  • Somatic Healing & Nervous System Regulation — releasing trauma stored in the body

  • Shadow Work & Inner Child Healing — reclaiming the parts of yourself you’ve silenced

  • Reiki & Energy Practices — when the soul needs to speak beyond words

  • Trauma-Informed Mentorship — safe, compassionate, and no-BS guidance

  • Generational Pattern Work — breaking the cycles that shaped us, so our children inherit freedom, not wounds

What This Means For You

This isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about remembering who you were before trauma told you who to be.

With this work, you will:

  • Heal childhood trauma and CPTSD patterns

  • Break free from codependency and toxic relationships

  • Set boundaries that honour your worth

  • Reclaim your voice, body, and power

  • Love yourself unapologetically

  • Build the stability your children and relationships deserve

Why Women Trust This Work

I’ve walked this road myself — which means I don’t just teach healing, I embody it. I’ve studied trauma, somatic practices, Reiki, and shadow work, but my greatest credential is surviving the life I now help women transform.

Women who work with me often say:

  • “I finally broke free from the mother wound and feel whole again.”

  • “I no longer live in fear of repeating my past — I’m building a new legacy for my kids.”

  • “For the first time, I feel seen and supported in my healing.”

Professional Training & Background

Healing work is sacred — and it requires skill. My practice is rooted not only in lived experience, but in over a decade of professional work and ongoing training.

I’ve been working with women since 2013, walking alongside survivors of childhood trauma, intimate partner violence, and codependency as they reclaim their lives.

My educational background in Social Work and Business grounds this work in both trauma-informed practice and practical, real-world execution.

Alongside this, I have completed professional training in:

  • Trauma & Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)

  • Intimate Partner Violence & Abuse Recovery

  • Cultural Sensitivity & Inclusive Healing Practices

  • Stigma & Mental Health Awareness

I am also certified in Reiki and Somatic Healing. Beyond certifications, I am committed to continuous professional development — regularly pursuing new courses and upgrading my skills to ensure my work remains compassionate, trauma-informed, and evidence-based.

And here’s the truth that matters most:

I have lived through everything I teach. This work isn’t theory to me — it’s survival turned into practice, and practice turned into freedom.
